Video: Enzyme Inhibition
This presentation introduces the basics of enzyme inhibition, explains graphically how reversible (competitive, noncompetitive or uncompetitive) and irreversible inhibitors work and draws comparisons. Most of the drugs commonly prescribed, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and flurbiprofen, or even the HIV drug nevirapine, are enzyme inhibitors. Inhibitors bind to an enzyme and either slow down or halt catalysis. At the end there are comprehension questions.
